Most founders think a brand starts with a logo. It doesn't. A logo is the smallest, last piece of a real brand — and treating it as the foundation is why most identity work feels hollow.
What a brand actually is.
A brand is the promise you keep repeating. It's the way you sound, the way you look, the way you behave when nobody's watching. It's what people say about you when you're not in the room.
A logo is the symbol we use to refer to all of that. It's a label, not the thing being labeled.
If you build the brand right, the logo almost designs itself. If you start with the logo, the brand never quite shows up.
